Service description
This service is intended for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) operating in the Kingdom of Bahrain to apply for the Institutional Accreditation (IA) granted by the Higher Education Council (HEC.)
Service requirements
1. The HEI must have a valid license to practice higher education activity in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
2. The HEI should read the IA Handbook before lodging its IA application.
3. The HEI should submit all the IA application documents according to the specified forms and templates of the service below.

Service procedures
1. The HEI shall fills in the IA application form and prepare all the supportive documents
2. The HEI shall submit the IA application form and all the supportive documents to the HEC.
3. The academic accreditation team of the HEC shall reviews the application and all of its supportive documents and requesting the shortcomings from the institution (if any.)
4. The HEI shall submit the application shortcomings to the HEC (if any.)
5. The HEC plans for the institutional inspection in coordination with the HEI.
6. The HEI shall write the self-evaluation report according to the IA standards.
7. The institutional inspection is conducted by a specialized team of experts.
8. The lead inspector shall submit the inspection team report to the HEC.
9. The HEC accreditation team shall review the inspection report and send it to the HEI for factual accuracy check.
10. The inspection report is considered by the Academic Accreditation Committee which makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees BoT of HEC on the award of IA.
11. The decision on IA is made by the BoT of HEC.
12. HEC notifies the HEI about the BoT of HEC decision on IA.
